Argonite is an inert gas mixture of 50% Argon gas and 50% Nitrogen gas with a density similar to that of air. Both Argon and Nitrogen are clean, naturally occurring gases that are readily available throughout the world. The system has no direct global warming or ozone depletion potential. The gas simply reduces the oxygen level from 20.9% down to 12.5% thus quenching the fire.
The mixture of these agents retains their individual properties: They are colorless, odorless, and tasteless.IG-55 must be used in total flooding applications where the protected hazard is enclosed, or for the protection of equipment that is self-enclosed in order to maintain the agent after discharge.IG-55 can be used to protect a wide range of applications from sensitive electrical equipment to industrial applications using flammable liquids. Argonite is stored at a pressure of 2900 PSI (200 bar) & 4350 PSI (300 bar)
